The story begins with the boy Barnum, his father Philo and the Hallett family. Barnum's father is a tailor who worked for the Hallett family for the rest of his life. The Hallets have a daughter named Tsariti, with whom the boy falls in love. They communicate throughout their studies at school. And then they get married and start a family. They have two wonderful daughters. The family lives happily. But at one point Barnum is fired from his job, as the company has become bankrupt. Barnum, having access to some documents, gets a loan using shares of sunken ships.
With this money Barnum buys an old wax museum. But no one is interested in looking at the old figures. Then Barnum comes up with the idea to open a circus of freaks so that all people can look at unusual people. Barnum is looking for freaks from all over the city, together with him he repairs an old building. Now Barnum's show has the greatest success. And his life takes on new colors. However, Barnum is defeated. The circus is burning down, and Barnum has no funds to restore it. What will happen to everyone for whom it was a matter of life?
